Q: What is an Annual Multi Trip Policy?
A: An annual multi-trip policy covers you and your family for a 12 month period. You can travel as often as you like as long as the maximum length of time spent outside Ireland does not exceed 90 days in total over the 12 months. Any one trip is covered for a maximum of 31 days. Q: When does my insurance cover begin?
A: Your insurance starts from the date you choose once you buy and pay for your policy.
Q: When does my insurance cover end?
A: Your cover will end 12 months from the day you started your policy.
Q: Will you automatically renew my annual multi-trip policy?
A: No. We will invite you, by email, to buy a new policy in 12 months time.
Q: What family members are covered?
A: You, your spouse or common-law partner and your dependant children under age 18 (or under age 23 if resident with you and in full time education).
Q: What defines a partner?
A: Any couple (including same sex) in a common-law relationship or who have co-habited for at least 6 months.
Q: Is there any restriction on the number of dependent children covered?
A: No.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: There is no age limit on your policy. However, is anyone on your policy is aged 70 or over at the time you are buying this insurance, you must contact the insure.ie Travel Centre on 01-293 2300 to request a quote. Cover will not be provided to anyone aged 70 or over unless you have declared this to us and any additional premium quoted has been paid in full prior to the commencement of cover in addition to any conditions required (such as completing a medical).
Q: How long can I travel at any one time?
A: The maximum length of any one trip covered under this policy is 31 days. The maximum length for any dependent children is 31 days if they are travelling on their own ie. not accompanied by either parent. The total time spent outside Ireland must not be more than 90 days in any 12 months.
Q: Does the travel policy provide medical cover during pregnancy?
A: Mapfre are not liable for claims resulting from childbirth. Cost incurred in the treatment of complications or abnormalities during pregnancy are covered, apart from those occurring after the seventh month of pregnancy. In any case, pregnant women should confirm their fitness to travel from a registered qualified medical practitioner.
Q: I have a pre-existing medical condition. Can I still have cover under this policy?
A: No pre-existing medical conditions are covered under the insure.ie travel policy unless they have been declared to and approved by Mapfre (the underwriters). This means that no claim will be paid out which arises directly or indirectly from any pre-existing medical condition of which you are aware and which affects any:
- insured person (ie. you, your partner or children)
or - person upon whose health your trip could depend (travelling companion or person with whom you intend staying)
or - close relative (ie. mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, daughter, son
(including legally adopted daughter or son), brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law or fiance of an Insured person).
However, in certain circumstances Mapfre may agree to provide cover for a pre-existing medical condition.
Should you wish to seek cover for a pre-existing medical condition, please contact Mapfre (the underwriters) directly on .
In the event that cover is confirmed for a pre-existing medical condition, Mapfre will provide you with a reference number and details of any additional charge involved. You should then contact the insure.ie Travel Centre on 01-293 2300 to arrange for Travel Insurance cover.
Q: Is there a policy excess?
A: Yes, the first €75 of any claim is not covered or €100 in respect of medical expenses. For cancellation or curtailment the excess is the greater of €75 or 10% of the cost of the holiday.

Q: When do I need to contact the Claims Helpline?
A: In the case of a medical emergency involving admittance to a hospital or a claim in excess of €500 you must contact the 24 hr Claims Helpline on +353-91-560 615 prior to incurring any costs to check that you are covered. We have multilingual staff and a global assistance network available to help. Mapfre (the insurer) can deal directly with any hospital on your behalf. In cases where the claim under the policy is likely to be less than €500 you may pay the costs and claim the money back from Mapfre when you return from holiday. Please call the claims helpline prior to incurring any costs if you are unsure what to do.
Q: If something is stolen what should I do?
A: File a police report within 24 hours. Also report the theft to your travel representative, if applicable. Phone the insure.ie Travel claims department for a claim form on your return from holidays on .
